Single droplets can be ejected from the tube’s orifice by squeezing the fluidic line with an external actuator. So droplets between 1.5 nL and 100 nL can be delivered contact-free. The system dispenses liquids for example high concentrated protein solutions, DMSO, and bead solutions with CVs between 1% and 5%. Another novel disposable device is the Dispensing Well Plate (DWP™), a device similar to a standard micro well plate. The DWP™-device comprises of an array of micromachined microfluidic dispensing units. Manufactured by injection molding the DWP™ is actuated pneumatically to provide simultaneous dispensing within a tenth of a second. So it is able to fill 384 aliquots of about 50 nL contact-free and simultaneously into standard well plates. Characterization experiments performed with water and DMSO prove a homogeneity and reproducibility of better than 5%. |
