Growth factor-stimulated cell migration plays a key role in several biological processes, including wound healing, metastasis, and cardiovascular diseases. Historically, the use of migration or surrogate scattering assays in high throughput has been hampered by the fact that existing methods are labor intensive or expensive.

We report here a rapid low-cost automated assay for measuring cell scattering using the GE Healthcare IN Cell Analyzer 1000 high content screening instrument and Developer analysis software. This assay makes it possible to measure in high throughput the effects of small molecule compound treatment on cell mobility.
