Presenting Author: Israel Biran, Molecular Cytomics Inc. - US To investigate large heterogeneous populations of primary cells there is a need to continuously observe cellular responses at a single cell resolution in a large number of cells. However, the number of cells that can be examined simultaneously with current microscopy methods is limited. To overcome this limitation, we used Molecular Cytomics' Optical LiveCell Array, a disposable slide-based device containing a densely packed array of transparent micron-sized wells. This technology enables real-time, ongoing observation of cellular events from thousands of adherent or non-adherent individual living cells, followed by structural and post-fixation studies on the same cells using standard upright or inverted microscopy equipment. In this study we present the use of the LiveCell Array for measurement of parameters such as cellular calcium levels and membrane potential in hundreds of individual primary beta cells. |
