Recently ion channels are receiving increasing attention as a target class for drug discovery, as well as an important issue in safety pharmacology.
CYTOCENTRICS fully automated the gold standard of ion channel research, the Patch Clamp technique. The CytoPatch™ instrument accelerates the testing of compounds on ion channels at early phases in the drug discovery process and in safety pharmacology for the identification of novel leads and targets. The application of CytoPatch™ results in real gigaseals and whole cell recordings comparable to manual Patch Clamping. The CytoPatch™ instrument contains up to 20 modules for parallel asynchronous operation. The heart of the instrument is the CytoPatch™ chip which contains two microchannels: one for positioning of cells, the second for Patch Clamping and recording. The separation results in excellent data generation.
CYTOCENTRICS will present high-quality results of hERG channel blockers tested on suspended CHO-hERG cells using the Cytopatch™ 10 instrument.
