Established in 2004, the Harvard Stem Cell Institute (HSCI) is a scientific collaborative established to investigate the complex biological and therapeutic aspects of stem cells while exploring the broad societal implications of this new science. By harnessing the extraordinary depth and breadth of scientific expertise based in the 11 Harvard-affiliated hospitals and research centers within its geographic locale, HSCI nurtures and compels a research community which is truly greater than the sum of its parts.

The International Society for Stem Cell Research, an independent, nonprofit organization of more than 2,600 members, was established to promote and foster the exchange and dissemination of information and ideas relating to stem cells, to encourage the general field of research involving stem cells and to promote professional and public education in all areas of stem cell research and application.
