New Board Members Elected
SBS has three new Board Members:

Roger Bosse, PerkinElmer Life Sciences
John Printen, Invitrogen
Maria Webb, Pharmacopeia, Inc.

The new board members will begin their terms on April 6, 2008 at the 14th Annual SBS Conference & Exhibition in St. Louis.  As we welcome the three new members to our board, we would also like to say good-bye and thank you to our members whose terms are expiring:

Richard Eglen, PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences
Tina Garyantes, Sanofi-Aventis
Lisa Minor, Johnson & Johnson

Please take a moment at the conference to thank them for their time and service.

SBS Beer Brewing Competition
Did you know that chemical evidence of beer dates back to circa 3500 – 3100 BC? Given that kind of history, SBS decided to get in on the fun and run our own beer brewing competition. With our attendees' chemical expertise and the link between St. Louis (the official home of the largest brewery in the US) and beer, we could not pass up this opportunity.

To become eligible for the title of Official Brew Master of SBS, simply fill out the registration form at www.sbsonline.org/beerbrewing and submit it by February 29th.  Then send in your home-brewed beer for judging and award presentation at the SBS 14th Annual Conference & Exhibition in St. Louis.

The Grand Prize for Best Overall Brew will be a trip for two, including airfare and lodging, to the 2008 Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado.  First runner up will receive their choice of either a GPS system or a Bose QC-2 Noise Canceling headset. The second runner up will receive a digital picture frame.

If you don’t brew beer, have some fun with our label competition! The creator of the label/slogan voted best by conference participants will win their choice of either a GPS system or Bose QC-2 Noise Canceling headset.

If you have any questions, contact Karen Costanzo at kcostanzo@sbsonline.org or 203-743-1336.

New This Year! SBS Gateway to Knowledge-A Poster Guide
This year at the SBS 14th Annual Conference & Exhibition, the society will give each attendee the new publication, SBS Gateway to Knowledge-A Poster Guide. The guide will include a detailed layout of the exhibition hall with references to poster session locations.

Poster Authors: Gain maximum exposure for your poster by submitting your abstract prior to the March 3rd deadline, and your title and abstract will be included in the new publication, SBS Gateway to Knowledge-A Poster Guide.
