From SBS' President
SBS assists NIH in Seeking Reviewers
The quality of NIH's peer review process depends on the quality of the reviewers serving in the NIH study sections. SBS has been asked to recommend experienced members as reviewers.

NIH seeks reviewers who:

  • are experienced senior scientists;
  • have received major peer-reviewed research support either from NIH or an equivalent agency;
  • understand the grant review process;
  • are willing to serve as study section members.
You are not required to be a resident of the United States. If you are interested in being considered as an NIH reviewer endorsed by SBS, please, send an e-mail to email@sbsonline.org, with "Interested in serving as an NIH reviewer" in the subject line . You will be asked to submit a basic bio to help the SBS Board endorse you as a reviewer and to enter you in the NIH database of volunteers.

Help Direct the Future of your Society
Elections for three new SBS Board members are being held until December 31, 2007. Ballots have been emailed or mailed by US post to all of SBS’ members. If you have not received your ballot, please contact Karen Costanzo at kcostanzo@sbsonline.org or 203-743-1336 x109.

Your new board members will begin their terms at the 14th Annual SBS Conference & Exhibition in St. Louis this coming April.

Help decide who will represent you on the SBS Board.

Anaheim: It's not just for Disney anymore!
The SBS Symposium, Back to Pharmacology: Stem Cells & Primary Cells in Drug Discovery, proved to be an exciting two-day meeting. On November 7 - 8, over 170 participants gathered at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel to network, learn and exchange ideas. With engaging scientific sessions and premier technologies on exhibit, attendees had multiple opportunities to share knowledge and explore new solutions. To see a list of participating speakers and/or exhibitors, please visit the event website.

Keep an eye out for a more comprehensive report on the meeting in the Journal of Biomolecular Screening.
